About The Position

The Yard Associate is responsible for the efficient loading, unloading, storing, and distribution of various building materials in the yard. This role involves maintaining inventory levels, ensuring customer satisfaction, and adhering to safety protocols while working independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

• Knowledge of building materials and their uses.
• Ability to read and use measuring tools accurately.
• Strong time-management skills and basic math understanding.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Valid Driver's License and forklift experience (certification preferred).
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs frequently.

• Experience in a similar role within the building materials industry.
• Basic computer skills for inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, store, transfer, and distribute materials such as lumber and insulation.
• Work with Dispatch or store manager to manage daily operations and prepare loads for delivery.
• Assist walk-in and pick-up retail customers, ensuring their needs are met.
• Receive and pull orders accurately, including handling credit returns.
• Perform general organization and housekeeping of the yard.
• Use power tools and saws safely to make rough cuts as needed.
• Communicate effectively with store personnel, managers, and customers.
• Verify incoming materials for damage and accuracy, and monitor inventory levels.
• Complete regular physical inventory counts and report shortages to management.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following safety guidelines and using safety equipment.
