About The Position

Mercy Health Boardman is seeking a Radiological Technologist who is a certified health professional committed to applying the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation in diagnostic radiology. The position offers a sign-on bonus of $15,000, higher pay scales, and flexible scheduling to support a balanced life. The Radiological Technologist will work various shifts and is responsible for obtaining patient histories, performing radiographic procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during imaging processes.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an ARRT accredited institute (preferred).
  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (required).
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed).
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).
  • 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).
  • Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
  • Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Positions and immobilizes patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Performs radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment, and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Verifies informed consent and completes pre and post procedure documentation.
  • Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures.
  • Performs timeout as required per policy.
  • Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Receives, relays and documents verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient's medical record.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality.
  • Documents patient dose exposures.
  • Professionally interacts with physicians, technologists, physician offices, hospital staff, patient family members and patients.
  • Operates radiographic equipment and accessories in accordance with the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).
