About The Position

Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality radiographic images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. To meet the staffing needs of the department, as necessary, Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned at any of the YNHH Diagnostic Radiology locations, regardless of your regularly assigned work location.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine radiography.
  • RT (R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Connecticut State Radiographer License is required within 120 days of hire date.
  • CPR Certification within six (6) months.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrates a basic understanding and technical skill with routine radiography.
  • Knowledge of CR / Digital imaging techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer / PACS applications.
  • Good organizational and communication / customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs quality and efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations, utilizing appropriate protocols and age specific standards.
  • Under the direct supervision of a Radiologic Technologist, operates radiographic equipment to ensure proper technical results.
  • Prepares examination room to ensure a clean and safe environment with adequate supplies to assure efficient and accurate performance of exams.
  • Performs quality and compassionate patient care, utilizing appropriate age specific standards, to ensure patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Performs various record keeping, customer service functions, and communicates feedback to ensure the goals of the department are met and operations run efficiently.
  • Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.
  • To enhance the patient experience in Diagnostic radiology all staff will be responsible to achieve patient satisfaction scores set by the department on the Test & Treatment section of our Press Ganey Survey.
