The X-ray Technologist is responsible for obtaining quality x-rays using correct positioning and radiation exposure, while implementing safety procedures for patients, staff, and themselves to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure. Key duties include creating and documenting x-ray CD copies according to Patient First guidelines, correctly labeling images and sleeves, and understanding the operation of x-ray and processing equipment. The role also involves using and understanding the bell system, filing and maintaining x-ray paperwork, and ensuring patient safety when using mobility equipment. The technologist will utilize daily logs, x-ray listings, copy listings, and the x-ray status screen, as well as the automated medical records system. Additional responsibilities include cleaning work areas, performing biological cleanup per OSHA guidelines, restocking supplies, adhering to company policies, and addressing requests from physicians and nurses promptly. The position requires completing checklists for x-ray and treatment areas, attending scheduled training and staff meetings, and being available for patient care, which may involve interruptions to breaks and mealtimes. The technologist is also responsible for operating, using, and maintaining medical and office equipment as trained.
