About The Position

Job Summary: The Radiologic Technologist operates radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographic images according to various physician protocols and performs epidural procedures. In addition to the routine tasks, a Radiologic Technologist assumes responsibilities of designated area(s) and assists other departments when available. Office Hours: Mon - Fri: 7:30am - 4:30pm Hours per Week: as needed, but must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week Pay Range: $27.50/hr - $41.00/hr Suggested rate will be based on candidate's years of direct, relevant experience

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Must have active, valid registration and continued certification through the ARRT
  • Knowledge of x-ray procedures and epidural procedures required.
  • Ability to operate all equipment and machinery, including processors and computer systems, required.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of requested x-rays in a timely manner that are of high-quality.
  • Greets and escorts patient to the appropriate room.
  • Obtains the patient's history to ensure proper scheduling.
  • Asks female patients of childbearing age the date of their last menstrual period and ensures that there is no possibility of pregnancy.
  • Prepares the patient for procedures by explaining the exam and answers his/her questions as best as possible.
  • Maintains patient comfort and safety while removing obscuring objects from the area of interest.
  • Provides radiation protection (shielding / collimation) for the patient, self, and others in accordance with prescribed safety standards of ALARA (including wearing his/her film badge).
  • Selects proper technical factors according to the size of the individual patient and produces/develops quality radiographs while using appropriate lead markers.
  • Critiques radiographs (density/detail/contrast/positioning/markers/anatomy visible), makes technical adjustments and performs repeats as necessary.
  • Along with the pain management team, assists during fluoroscopic procedures (i.e.: epidural steroid injections, hip aspirations).
  • Reports equipment problems to department supervisor, office manager, and vendor.
  • Participates in training of new employees.
  • Maintains safe radiologic practice per standards adapted and implemented by x-ray quality assurance policies.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
