About The Position

The X-Ray Technician at Olympia Orthopaedic Associates is responsible for preparing patients for radiologic procedures, ensuring safety from radiation hazards, and taking X-rays following established procedures. The role involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment, implementing infection control procedures, and selecting proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. The technician will also maintain required records, perform quality control checks, clean and maintain radiographic equipment, and manage radiographic supplies. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • X-Ray Technician (XT) certification with the State of WA, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an X-Ray Technician.
  • Experience in an orthopedic medical practice environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and protects them from radiation hazards.
  • Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Sets up and operates radiographic equipment used in medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Implements infection control procedures for the work area.
  • Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
  • Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific body parts as requested by physicians.
  • Checks X-rays for clarity of image and retakes when needed.
  • Maintains required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports.
  • Performs quantity and quality control checks to ensure X-ray unit meets standards.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment.
  • Maintains radiographic supplies and orders as necessary.
  • Requests outside images for upcoming appointments and ensures availability for surgery.
