About The Position

The X-Ray Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare team by performing diagnostic imaging examinations that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This position requires the operation of sophisticated radiographic equipment to capture high-quality images of patients' internal structures while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The X-Ray Tech must adhere to strict protocols to minimize radiation exposure and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Collaboration with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals is essential to accurately interpret imaging needs and provide timely results. Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to patient care by delivering precise diagnostic information that supports effective medical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology (Radiography) program.
  • Prior outpatient/urgent care/clinic imaging experience 2+ years
  • ARRT certification in Radiography ® required (or eligible, per organizational policy).
  • State licensure as required (e.g. Texas MRT, if applicable)
  • BLS/CPR certification required (or obtained within designated onboarding timeframe).
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and imaging techniques.
  • Excellent patient service skills, professionalism, and communication.
  • Attention to detail, strong documentation habits, and ability to follow protocols.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy. Working knowledge of EMR/PACS systems and basic computer skills. (E-Clinical, EMR)
  • Team-oriented with a safety-first mindset and high accountability.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality; ability to work assigned schedule (including occasional evenings/weekends if needed).
  • Maintain continuing education and compliance requirements per ARRT/state regulations and organizational policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures (e.g., routine X-rays) per provider order and established protocols.
  • Verify patient identity, confirm orders, obtain relevant history, and ensure appropriate exam preparation.
  • Position patients accurately and operate radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality images while minimizing repeat exposures.
  • Maintain radiation safety standards (ALARA), apply shielding as appropriate, and follow all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure image quality, label images correctly, and route studies to PACS/EMR and/or radiologist per workflow.
  • Document required exam details, patient interactions, and any variances or incidents per policy.
  • Provide excellent patient care, including clear instructions, comfort measures, and professional communication.
  • Maintain infection prevention practices, including room turnover, equipment cleaning, and proper PPE use.
  • Conduct basic equipment checks, report malfunctions promptly, and coordinate service requests when needed.
  • Support clinic operations through collaboration with providers, clinical staff, and front desk teams to maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Assist with stocking and inventory of imaging supplies; track expired/low stock items.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audits, and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Provide cross-coverage support (as trained) for other clinical tasks within scope and policy.
  • Support onboarding/training of new imaging staff and students (if applicable).
