JOB PURPOSE: This position will support the planning, coordination, marketing, and on-the-ground execution of the Wyoming Ag & Art Tours; with a focus on social media management and communication strategies. The Wyoming Ag & Art Tour is a statewide initiative that connects agricultural producers, local artists, and communities through self-guided tours. Working closely with the State Planning team and county planning teams, they will assist with marketing, communications, and event-day support across multiple counties. This position offers hands-on experience in agritourism, event planning, marketing, community engagement, Extension, agriculture, and rural tourism development. They are encouraged to attend all of the following tour dates when possible; flexibility is available if scheduling conflicts arise. Allowable travel expenses up to $700.00 will be reimbursed. Dates for the 2026 Wyoming Ag & Art Tours include: Natrona County – May 16, Albany County – June 20, Johnson/Sheridan Counties – July 11, Fremont County – August 22, and Laramie County – September 12. Additionally, the successful candidate will complete a weather, climate, or drought-related activity aligned with Extension and WyCHEx grant goals, resulting in an Extension output (e.g., fact-sheet or bulletin). This work will integrate with tour efforts, such as sharing weather and drought resources at tour stops. The intern will receive guidance and support on this component, including opportunities to meet with Extension faculty to help shape the project and final output.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with social media, marketing, or communications
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Availability to work approximately 7 hours per week from March through September
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Wyoming for event-day support
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and coordination of Ag & Art Tour events across multiple counties within the time frame of 3/16/26 through 9/12/26
  • Support communication with host sites, artists, county planning teams, and volunteers
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts, including social media, email communications, and community outreach
  • Help track timelines, deadlines, and planning milestones
  • Provide on-site support during Ag & Art Tour event days, including setup, coordination, and troubleshooting.
  • Support travel planning and documentation related to event-day assistance
  • Assist with basic content creation for Facebook, Instagram (photos, captions, event recaps)
  • Help compile impact metrics, summaries, and reports
  • Support sponsor recognition and thank-you communications
  • Provide general administrative support related to tour planning
