The City of Sioux City Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic-In-Training to join our team. Under guidance and direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Supervisor, assists with the routine maintenance and repair of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and related facilities and equipment. This position assists in performing maintenance and repair work on all plant facilities, pumps, engines, motors, chemical feeders, filters, bar screens, valves, pipes, heat exchangers, air compressors, heating/cooling equipment, aeration equipment, and all other major mechanical and hydraulic equipment found in a Wastewater Treatment facility and collection system. Other duties are outlined in this position description. Special Requirements: Must obtain an Iowa Grade 1 Wastewater System Certificate within 24 months of appointment. This position will work from Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. Must be able to work outside normal working hours to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. On-call if needed. Our employees are required to reside within 30 miles of the City of Sioux City limits which extends to other adjoining states; Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
