About The Position

The WWAMI Medical Education Program provides education at MSU Bozeman for first and second-year medical students in partnership with the University of Washington School of Medicine. This position will provide longitudinal instruction and support in foundational sciences (e.g., physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology) aligned with clinical topics and cases. Teaching occurs in a variety of formats including lectures, small groups, and case-based discussions. This unique role involves sustained engagement with a cohort of students throughout the pre-clinical phase, blending foundational science education with clinical relevance. Appointments are on a part-time basis for an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary and FTE is dependent on the number of courses taught and duration.

Requirements

  • MD/DO or PhD in one of the Biological Sciences relevant to the medical school curriculum.
  • Documented interest in teaching.

  • Instructional experience in a medical education curriculum.
  • Expertise in the biological sciences related to the medical school curriculum, e.g., physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology.
  • Demonstration of excellence in teaching, ideally with experience in active learning and the use of educational technology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in one or more of the nine WWAMI 1st and 2nd year curriculum blocks.
  • Prepare for classes.
  • Facilitate student learning during classes.
  • Review and discuss assignments.
  • Follow up on a regular basis with students or as needed.
  • Student remediation.
  • Serve as a resource for medical students.
  • Submit evaluations to the school of medicine in a timely manner.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and committee work of the WWAMI curriculum, inter-professional education, and service-learning activities as assigned.
