WTP OPERATOR I - WATER WORKS

About the position

The WTP Operator I operates equipment, systems, and related facility features at the Water Treatment Plant, performing directly related work as required. This position involves monitoring and adjusting processes to ensure the effective treatment of water, as well as maintaining equipment and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

• Observes variations in operating conditions and makes equipment and process related adjustments.
• Mixes and adjusts chemical doses.
• Monitors computer generated information relating to water issues and takes appropriate actions based on that information.
• Notifies supervisor of any actions taken or makes recommendations for changes.
• Monitors automated process control system operating levels.
• Inspects all equipment and processing areas.
• Completes carbon regeneration duties.
• Performs calculations and records data according to established procedures.
• Interprets results and makes or recommends adjustments.
• Maintains log of plant operations.
• Operates pumps and other equipment to control flow and other processes.
• Develops safe and standard operation procedures for plant equipment activities.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment to include assembly, disassembly, and lubrication of equipment using standard mechanics hand tools.
• Monitors outlying pump stations and machinery.
• Operates safety equipment such as self-contained breathing apparatus, dust masks and face shield, monitoring equipment and instrumentation and related equipment.
• Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions.

Requirements

• Graduation from High School or possession of a GED.
• Some experience in related operations, time within the position of WTP Operator trainee preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
• Valid New Hampshire Drivers License.
• State of New Hampshire Grade II Operators License.
