The Grant Writing Intern serves a vital role in supporting U.S. Hunger’s mission by identifying and securing funding opportunities while uplifting the lived experience. Reporting to the Data & Research Writer, the intern will assist in researching and applying for grants that fund key programs, including Hunger Projects, Full Cart, and general operating needs. In addition to proposal development, the intern will contribute written content for U.S. Hunger’s Data Center, a public platform that explores the underlying drivers of food insecurity and uplifts personal stories. You will have the opportunity to highlight the voices of those we serve and elaborate on the nuances of hunger and food insecurity in the United States. Topics include: “Shame and Hunger: Breaking the Stigma Through Lived Experiences” “Why Women Are Especially Vulnerable to Facing Food Insecurity” This position offers a hands-on opportunity to develop essential skills in grant writing, research, fundraising, and nonprofit operations. The intern will collaborate across departments to fully understand U.S. Hunger's impact and communicate its mission to potential funders. Through this role, the intern will enhance their professionalism, build a strong network in the nonprofit sector, and contribute directly to meaningful change.
