About The Position

Role and Responsibilities Lead guided trail rides for guests of varying ages and riding abilities while ensuring safety, comfort, and enjoyment. Assist guests with mounting, dismounting, and riding instruction when needed. Care for the horse herd, including feeding, grooming, saddling, cleaning stalls, and general health monitoring. Maintain tack, equipment, barns, corrals, and riding areas to ranch standards. Help match guests with appropriate horses based on ability, size, and experience level. Engage warmly with guests—answering questions, sharing knowledge, and fostering a welcoming Western atmosphere. Support special events or activities such as team penning, arena lessons, kids’ rides, or off-property outings. Follow all ranch safety protocols and assist in enforcing safe riding practices. Participate in daily ranch duties, trail maintenance, and other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong horsemanship skills and confidence handling horses in a variety of situations.
  • Previous riding or wrangling experience required; guest ranch or camp experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and focused during busy or high-pressure situations.
  • High level of physical fitness; ability to lift 50 lbs and work long days outdoors in variable weather.
  • Team-oriented, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
  • First aid and CPR certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must meet age and driving requirements (21+) if transporting guests or towing trailers is part of the role.
