About The Position

The Physician Practice Office Assistant at White Plains Hospital is responsible for performing a variety of office-clerical duties while providing excellent customer service and communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers. This role is essential in ensuring efficient office operations and patient care coordination within the practice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous patient relation experience required.
  • Previous general office experience required.
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Scheduling and Electronic Medical Records preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous physician practice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and confirms patient appointments using the Practice Management System.
  • Sends/receives patient records and documents; schedules surgical procedures and tests.
  • Obtains pre-certification for healthcare services and verifies insurance coverage.
  • Answers telephone calls, relays messages, and provides necessary information.
  • Maintains files and assists in establishing office systems.
  • Orders office supplies and operates related office equipment.
  • Attends meetings, takes, and distributes minutes.
  • Respects and promotes patient rights; responds appropriately to emergencies.
  • Communicates concerns/problems relating to patients and/or staff with the immediate supervisor.
  • Adheres to infection control standards and completes annual mandatory requirements.
  • Collaborates and communicates with the healthcare team.
  • Prepares and maintains various statistical data as needed.
