The Wound Nurse is responsible for assessing skin alterations, developing plans of care, implementing orders and treatments, and evaluating progress of specialized skin and wound conditions. Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Prior to date of hire, must hold a current, valid RN or LPN, temporary RN or LPN licensure, or hold a compact RN or LPN license.
- CPR required.
- Wound Care Certification required.
- Minimum of one (1) year licensed nursing experience providing direct care to the aged/chronically ill required.
- Extensive knowledge of wound treatments to include, but not limited to: pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of the wound care continuum that includes the treatment of the guest/patient through a comprehensive and holistic approach that includes nutritional management, pressure reduction, hazard identification, pain management, infection control and prevention.
Nice To Haves
- Nursing experience in ostomy and continence strongly preferred.
- Nursing experience in a long term care/skilled nursing/transitional rehabilitation setting strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new admissions, complete regular wound rounds, document status of wounds and ensure notification of physician and family of changes.
- Identify wound types, analyze trends, and provide education to nursing staff.
