Wound Closure & Healing and Biosurgery (WCHB) is part of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery organization, which develops a broad portfolio of surgical technologies including sutures, skin adhesives, hemostasis solutions, staplers, trocars, energy devices, and synthetic mesh used across minimally invasive and open procedures. The WCHB R&D team in Raritan, NJ is excited to welcome applicants for our Summer/ Fall 2026 R&D Co‑Op opportunity . Requirements

  • Ability to relocate and work on‑site in a laboratory environment.
  • Completion of at least one year of an undergraduate program.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel).
  • Co‑Op term runs May/June–December 2026 , with flexible start and end dates to accommodate academic calendars.
  • Must be able to work full‑time (40 hours/week) during the Co‑Op term.
  • Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited university for the duration of the internship, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • Minimum GPA requirement is 2.8 , with 3.0 or higher strongly preferred .
  • Able to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving ability, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail with a commitment to high‑quality work.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results.
  • Self‑starter who is comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Support the build and evaluation of novel medical devices using specialized machining processes.
  • Participate in Voice‑of‑Customer (VOC) labs with surgeons.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design key project studies.
  • Test and characterize prototype and competitive devices.
  • Follow good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, final reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Work with engineers and external suppliers to advance project activities.
