Wound Care Specialist - RN - Days at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Hospital is a role that involves being part of a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable Wound, Ostomy Care Specialists. Each team member operates with a high level of autonomy, responsible for delivering patient care and consultations for patients with wounds and ostomies. WOC nurses collaborate with unit leadership and staff RNs to recommend appropriate treatment and prevention plans, while also coaching and mentoring staff in wound and ostomy care. The team supports and mentors staff RNs interested in preventing pressure injuries through the Skin Champions council. WOC nurses participate in decision-making, policy, and product reviews to ensure evidence-based practices. Regular evaluation of patient outcomes and participation in initiatives focused on improving quality and performance are key aspects of this role. The position promotes individual practice while working collaboratively towards the common goal of patient safety.
