About The Position

The Wound Care Nurse at River City Nursing and Rehab is responsible for providing primary skin care to residents, managing and treating various skin conditions, and coordinating nursing care in compliance with facility protocols. This part-time position requires adherence to physician orders and involves direct patient care, documentation, and collaboration with the care plan team.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nursing or equivalent is required.
  • Florida Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing is required.
  • Experience performing essential functions of the position is desirable.
  • Continuing education in wound care and pressure injury staging required.
  • Certification in wound care preferred but not required.
  • Candidates must attain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days after hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is desired.
  • Certification in wound care is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, manage, and treat specific skin conditions such as pressure injuries and ulcers.
  • Provide wound care on affected residents according to physician orders and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Complete thorough and accurate wound evaluations upon admission and follow-up evaluations weekly.
  • Document all evaluations in the medical record and report to the physician and care team.
  • Monitor implementation of preventative measures and provide education to residents and their representatives.
  • Attend and participate in committee meetings and quality assurance performance improvement committees.
  • Assist with discharge planning and provide resident/family education as needed.
  • Order special treatment supplies and equipment with supervisor approval.
