About The Position

The Wound Care Nurse at The Laurels of Bon Air is responsible for providing primary skin care to guests, focusing on the treatment and therapy of skin disorders. This role involves modifying treatment regimens to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of guests, collaborating with nursing personnel, and ensuring compliance with established medical practices and facility policies.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse with required state licensure.
  • CPR certification or acceptable exemption required.
  • At least two years of experience working in wound care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary skin care to guests with an emphasis on treatment and therapy of skin disorders.
  • Modify treatment regimens to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of guests.
  • Confer with the Director of Nursing and other licensed nursing personnel regarding dermatologic disorders.
  • Identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders, pressure ulcers, and lesions as directed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Consult with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) regarding assessment evaluations and assist in planning skin care.
  • Implement and maintain established policies and procedures related to skin care treatments.
  • Provide treatment for skin disorders as ordered by the physician under established protocols.
  • Ensure appropriate treatment and prophylactic care for residents with decubitus ulcers and other skin conditions.
