  • Provide primary healthcare to patients and families, focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education and counseling.
  • Perform physical exams on all age appropriate patients.
  • Obtain and document patient's medical history and identify health risk factors.
  • Assess, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Prescribe medications and non-pharmacological therapies based on the patient's diagnoses.
  • Apply standardized care guidelines in clinical practice.
  • Provide patient and/or family with health education and counseling.
  • Assess and document patient and/or family psychosocial issues.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other members of the health team to plan optimal care.
  • Formulate a patient treatment and education plan with the patient and family.
  • Provide follow-up care and reassess treatment plans as needed.
  • Document all findings, interventions and results according to standards and policies.
  • Function as a patient and family advocate.
  • Consult with physicians and/or other health care providers when appropriate.
  • Coordinate patient care and make referrals as indicated.
  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Stay current with medical advancements through continuing education.
  • Attend required departmental, organizational and medical staff committee meetings.
  • Interact with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance.
  • Current Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse License in the State of Maine.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or certification eligible.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.
  • Current DEA with no restriction.
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR/EHR.
  • Current ACLS Certification preferred.
  • Current PALS Certification preferred if caring for Pediatric patients.
  • Ability to communicate in additional languages.
  • Full Time employment status.
  • Days shift.
