About The Position
The Worship Director at Vriesland Church is a pivotal role responsible for planning and leading the corporate worship gatherings, with a strong emphasis on the liturgical and musical elements of worship. This position operates under the guidance of the Lead Pastor and involves a collaborative effort with the Worship Committee to ensure that worship services are meaningful and engaging for the congregation. The Worship Director will be expected to maintain a consistent in-office presence, particularly for scheduled rehearsals and worship gatherings, while also having some flexibility in their work schedule. The role requires a deep commitment to Christ and His Church, along with a clear calling to vocational ministry that is recognized by others. The Worship Director must uphold the Reformed theology as outlined in the Three Forms of Unity and be dedicated to the communal identity and commitments of Vriesland Church. Proficiency in music is essential, as the director will need to organize, coordinate, and lead a team of musicians effectively. Experience in leading sung worship within a local church setting is preferred, and the candidate should be willing to become a Ministry Partner of Vriesland Church. Key responsibilities include planning and preparing for weekend gatherings and special services, coordinating volunteers, managing service orders and liturgy, and overseeing music planning and audio/video technology needs. The Worship Director will also analyze the church's repertoire annually, ensuring a balance of theological themes and hymn/chorus selections. Additionally, the director will lead rehearsals, secure replacements for weekend gatherings when necessary, and facilitate meetings with the Worship Committee to evaluate and cast a vision for the worship ministry. The role also involves maintaining audio/video equipment and musical instruments, ensuring compliance with copyright laws, and empowering the congregation to participate in worship ministry.
