About The Position

Severns Valley Baptist Church is seeking a Worship & Creative Arts Intern for a structured ministry internship experience that provides hands-on training in worship leadership and creative communication. This role offers practical ministry experience in both creative arts (70%) and worship arts (30%) while developing competencies that align with undergraduate ministry program outcomes. | Schedule: 10-15 hours/week | Duration: Semester/Summer | Location: 45 min from Louisville This internship is designed to meet academic requirements for ministry practicums and field education experiences. Interns will receive: Structured supervision with weekly meetings and ongoing feedback Ministry competency development aligned with academic learning outcomes Mid-term and final evaluations coordinated with academic requirements Portfolio development documenting ministry experiences and growth Integration opportunities connecting classroom theory with ministry practice This internship is structured to help students develop competencies in the following areas (customizable based on specific college requirements) : Ministry Competencies Worship Leadership: Demonstrate understanding of biblical worship theology and practical worship planning Team Leadership: Apply principles of volunteer recruitment, development, and care Creative Communication: Utilize visual and multimedia tools to communicate effectively in ministry contexts Organizational Ministry: Understand how various ministry areas function within the local church Spiritual Formation: Integrate personal spiritual growth with ministry practice Professional Skills Collaboration: Work effectively with staff, volunteers, and diverse ministry teams Communication: Demonstrate clear, professional communication in various ministry settings Time Management: Balance multiple responsibilities with reliability and excellence Problem-Solving: Address ministry challenges with creativity and wisdom Self-Awareness: Reflect critically on personal growth, strengths, and areas for development Theological Integration Ecclesiology: Articulate understanding of the local church's role in God's mission Practical Theology: Connect biblical principles with ministry decision-making Cultural Engagement: Demonstrate awareness of how worship and creativity engage contemporary culture

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate ministry program at Boyce College (or other accredited institution)
  • Musical ability and/or technical proficiency in worship production or creative arts
  • Heart for serving others and helping people encounter God
  • Reliable transportation to Elizabethtown, KY
  • Teachable spirit with willingness to learn and receive feedback
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving on a worship team or in creative ministry roles
  • Basic knowledge of creative design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Planning Center, ProPresenter, or similar church software
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on visual design for worship services, events, and communications
  • Assist with stage design, environmental setup, and creative elements for services
  • Support video production, editing, and multimedia content creation
  • Help develop graphics for social media, announcements, and promotional materials
  • Contribute creative ideas during planning sessions and team meetings
  • Learn how creative communication serves the mission and vision of the church
  • Assist in planning and executing weekend worship services and special events
  • Support worship team rehearsals through setup, sound checks, and coordination
  • Help manage worship team schedules, music charts, and resource materials
  • Participate in worship ministry as appropriate (vocals, instruments, tech support)
  • Assist with evaluation and continuous improvement of worship experiences
  • Support and encourage volunteer worship team members
  • Observe and learn principles of worship theology, team leadership, and volunteer development
  • Participate in staff meetings and ministry team planning sessions
  • Engage in regular supervision meetings with Michael Poole and Logan Fisher
  • Complete reflection assignments and learning assessments as required by academic program
  • Maintain professional communication with church staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrate growing understanding of church ministry philosophy and practice
  • Weekly supervision meetings with primary and secondary supervisors
  • Monthly reflection journals documenting ministry experiences and learning
  • Mid-term evaluation (coordinated with academic advisor)
  • Final evaluation and portfolio presentation (coordinated with academic advisor)
  • Ministry project or capstone (optional, based on academic requirements)
