About The Position

The Director of Worship & Student Ministries will engage, equip, and empower students, families, and volunteer leadersat San Jose Baptist Churchto make disciples of Jesus and equip those who do. This role provides primary leadership for Student Ministry and oversight for Next Gen volunteer leaders (students, children, and preschool), while offering strategic coordination and support for Worship Arts in partnership with staff and volunteers. This position is designed to strengthen San Jose Baptist Church’s discipleship pipeline for the next generation while supporting worship gatherings that are excellent, authentic, and accessible. Primary Emphasis: · Student Ministry Leadership (Primary Focus) · Next Gen Volunteer Leadership (Students, Children, Preschool) · Worship Arts Oversight (Secondary, High-Level Focus)

Requirements

Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and empower volunteers.
Passion for discipling students and partnering with families.
Ability to manage multiple ministry areas with clarity and focus.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Comfortable working within a collaborative, team-based ministry culture.
Alignment with Aspire’s Statement of Faith, mission, and values.
Active Christian and committed participant in a church of like faith and practice.
Experience in Student Ministry leadership required.
Experience leading volunteers in church or ministry settings required.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of church management and scheduling tools preferred.
Seminary training or ministry-related degree preferred (or commitment to ongoing theological education required).
Experience in worship ministry leadership.

Responsibilities

Provide overall vision, leadership, and direction for middle school and high school ministries.
Serve as a spiritual leader and visible presence in the lives of students.
Plan and lead Bible-centered programming that fosters discipleship, belonging, and mission.
Develop outreach opportunities that help students invite and engage their peers.
Partner with parents to equip them as the primary discipling influence in their students’ lives.
Serve as the team leader for all Next Gen volunteers, including students, children, and preschool.
Recruit, train, equip, and care for volunteer leaders across all Next Gen environments.
Develop healthy ministry systems that support safe, consistent, and effective Next Gen programming.
Collaborate with Aspire Family of Churches Next Gen leaders for shared resources and best practices.
Ensure alignment with Aspire’s mission, values, and discipleship strategy.
Provide strategic leadership and coordination for worship ministries in collaboration with worship leaders and volunteers.
Support the planning and execution of weekly worship gatherings and special services.
Encourage excellence, authenticity, and accessibility in worship environments.
Coordinate worship schedules and communication as needed.
Partner with the Pastor of San Jose to support sermon series planning and seasonal services.
Plan and execute weekly Student Ministry gatherings and midweek programming.
Lead Student Ministry events, retreats, camps, and mission opportunities.
Train and equip volunteers through regular communication, coaching, and spiritual care.
Ensure Next Gen ministries operate with excellence, safety, and clarity.
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support worship gatherings without requiring full production leadership.
Assist with church-wide events and special services as needed.
Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and Aspire Family of Churches gatherings.
