About The Position

The World Language Teacher is responsible for the instruction of world language content in a classroom setting. DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must: · Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is expected as part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance. · Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan. · Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism. · Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

Requirements

  • Florida Professional Educator World Language Education Certificate preferred.
  • Eligibility for Florida Temporary World Language Education Certificate required.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community.
  • Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.
  • Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Microsoft Office
  • Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
  • Up to 10 pounds.
  • Both dominant and non-dominant hand, overhead.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area as assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
  • Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
  • Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and second language acquisition methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
  • Addresses all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen in the appropriate content area.
  • Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
  • Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data.
  • Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
