About The Position

Qualifications: Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure. Hold a current, valid qualified or professional certification by the American Sign Language Teachers Association; or Hold a current, valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening Level III Interpreting Certification or higher issued by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; or Hold a current, valid Registry of Interpreters for Deaf certification at least one of the following: Certification of Interpretation (CI), Certification of Deaf Interpretation (CDI), Reverse Skills Certification (RSC), or Comprehensive Skills Certification (CSC); or Hold a current, valid National Association for the Deaf Level IV Certification or higher, and Earned a minimum of three semester hours of methods of teaching foreign languages at the elementary and secondary levels from a regionally accredited college or university. Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required. Experience: Teaching experience in the above mentioned area Knowledge of best instructional practices Ability to integrate technology Experience in educational and instructional leadership Responsibilities: Implements instructional programs that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students using appropriate instructional materials Mains safe and orderly environment Communicates with parents/guardians Maintains complete and accurate student records Collaborates with school administrators, other teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and community members Monitors and assesses student achievement Attends ongoing professional learning and meetings Salary: Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule.
