About The Position

The Workshop Facilitator plays a vital role within the Fedcap TPT program by delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based workshops and transition planning support to individuals incarcerated within NYC Department of Correction (DOC) facilities. This position is responsible for facilitating a minimum of three (3) structured workshops daily, fostering engagement, and promoting learning that supports participants’ successful re-entry into the community. The Facilitator works collaboratively with Transition Managers, Peer Navigators, and DOC staff to ensure coordinated service delivery and to strengthen participants’ employment readiness, behavioral skills, and overall stability post-release.

Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred; a minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent credential is required.
  • Bring a minimum of 2 years of experience in group facilitation, workforce development, or social services OR in related fields, such as education, healthcare administration, or human resources.
  • You are able to pass the required security clearance with the NYC Department of Corrections to work inside Rikers Island.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a minimum of three (3) workshops daily, ensuring adherence to evidence-based curriculum and trauma-informed practices.
  • Maintain an average participant engagement rate of ≥ 80% across all sessions.
  • Utilize multiple learning modalities (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Track attendance, participation, and outcomes for each workshop session through the DOC tracking system and FedcapCARES.
  • Promote positive behavior, communication, and personal development through structured group facilitation.
  • Conduct individualized sessions with participants to co-develop transition plans tailored to re-entry goals and service needs.
  • Provide linkages to internal and external supports, including employment, housing, education, and behavioral health resources for participants transitioning into the community.
  • Track participant progress, follow-up outcomes, and maintain clear documentation of all interactions.
  • Enter all workshop attendance, notes, and outcomes into FedcapCARES™ within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Maintain ≥ 95% data accuracy in participant records and documentation.
  • Ensure all data entry, reports, and case notes comply with DOC and Fedcap confidentiality and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with Transition Managers, Peer Navigators, and DOC staff to ensure coordinated support for participants.
  • Participate in 100% of weekly case conferences, staff meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Provide completion certificates for 100% of participants who complete 80% or more of approved workshops.
  • Maintain DOC clearance and comply with all facility and Fedcap policies regarding safety, conduct, and confidentiality.
  • Complete all required DOC and Fedcap trainings annually and maintain compliance certifications.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and professional conduct in ≥ 90% of scheduled shifts.
  • Represent Fedcap with professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
