The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in helping the site achieve safety excellence, which is defined by the organization's vision of safety success. This developmental role overlaps with Safety Manager responsibilities and focuses on Environmental, Health and Safety rules, processes, and procedures, while also encompassing food safety and quality assurance duties. The Safety Coordinator will report to the Sr. Director of Safety and Quality Assurance and is expected to uphold the highest standards of safety excellence across the organization.

  • Develop, implement, review, and continuously improve site safety and health programs to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Perform administrative duties of the safety department, including data entry and maintaining training records.
  • Participate in internal audits of the safety and health program and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to develop initiatives that meet safety expectations and standards.
  • Actively participate on the site’s Joint Health and Safety Committee and assume a leading role.
  • Partner with site leadership to reduce risk, injuries, and meet compliance obligations.
  • Spend time on the floor to build relationships and observe behaviors/conditions.
  • Intervene in operations that could harm associates or damage equipment.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Assist in the development and execution of site risk-based safety plans.
  • Conduct incident investigations and lead timely investigations to identify root causes.
  • Assist with safety onboarding and training processes for new employees and contractors.
  • Become knowledgeable of applicable safety and health requirements.
  • Respond to health and safety concerns and follow up with site teams.
  • Assist in developing and updating written safety procedures.
  • Implement aspects of the site industrial hygiene program.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal health information.
  • Total commitment to safety is required.
  • Prior safety experience is preferred.
  • Safety qualifications such as OSHA 10- or 30-hour credentials, ASP or CSP are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred or willingness to obtain within 2 years.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to deliver training material and communicate critical safety information to groups.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent work history is essential.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends, including holidays.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus.
