About The Position

The Workplace Investigations Lead at Rippling is a pivotal role within the Legal & Compliance team, designed for a motivated attorney who excels in conducting complex workplace investigations. This position involves managing investigation processes, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and fostering a fair work environment for a diverse workforce of over 3,500 employees. The role emphasizes hands-on investigative work, process improvement, and collaboration with various internal stakeholders to address workplace concerns effectively.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience conducting workplace investigations, ideally in-house, at a law firm, or through third-party investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and global employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, and FMLA; bonus points for global compliance experience.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, particularly in preparing investigation reports and legal responses.
  • Ability to use data to inform decision-making and process enhancements; bonus points for proficiency with tools like Jira or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage highly sensitive matters with discretion, professionalism, and objectivity.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset (flexible, self-starting and hard-working) in generating new and innovative solutions to build out the Legal & Compliance program.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Law degree (e.g. JD or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct end-to-end workplace investigations into allegations such as harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, fraud, security, and policy violations, ensuring a thorough, objective, and legally compliant process.
  • Draft clear investigation reports which summarize findings, analyses, and recommended actions.
  • Own investigation protocols and frameworks, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to HR on investigation processes and best practices.
  • Investigate and draft initial responses to employment-related demand letters, agency filings (e.g., EEOC, DFEH), and other disputes in collaboration with internal and external counsel.
  • Utilize tools like Jira and leverage data insights to track investigation metrics, identify trends, and drive process improvements.
  • Stay current on employment laws and workplace investigation trends to ensure compliance and integrate new developments into company practices.
  • Contribute to broader compliance initiatives, including audits, policy development, and risk mitigation strategies.
