About The Position

The Workload Mobility Software Engineer 5 position at Broadcom involves designing and implementing kernel-side features to enhance the vMotion data path. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 12+ years of related experience or Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years of experience in operating systems, kernel-side development, preferably with experience in VMware's kernel-side development
  • Strong understanding of kernel-side programming, including device drivers, kernel modules, and system programming
  • Experience with C programming language and familiarity with Linux kernel development
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Familiarity with VMware's vMotion technology and kernel-side development

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of VMware's ESXi hypervisor and its kernel-side components
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and Scrum framework
  • Familiarity with VMware's coding standards and best practices

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement kernel-side features to scale the vMotion data path, ensuring high-performance and reliability for our customers
  • Collaborate with the vMotion development team to develop and integrate kernel-side features
  • Develop and maintain kernel-side code for vMotion data path scaling
  • Troubleshoot and debug kernel-side issues related to vMotion data path scaling
  • Work closely with other teams, including kernel development, to ensure seamless integration of kernel-side features
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to VMware's coding standards
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for kernel-side features
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in kernel-side programming and vMotion technology
