About The Position

Mater is currently undertaking a major organisational transformation focused on modernising our systems and elevating the employee experience. As part of this exciting program of work, the UKG Pro Migration Project Team is seeking an experienced and versatile Workforce Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support both Scheduling and Payroll components of Mater’s transition to UKG Pro Workforce Management. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping Mater’s future state workforce management capability. As the UKG Pro Workforce Management SME, you will provide expert guidance across both scheduling and payroll streams to ensure system design, configuration and testing align with operational, industrial and legislative requirements. You will work closely with project teams, operational leaders, and technical specialists to support a high‑quality system implementation that enhances workforce efficiency, ensures compliant pay outcomes, and meets the needs of a complex healthcare organisation. Requirements

  • Specialist knowledge in workforce scheduling and/or payroll within a complex environment
  • Strong understanding of industrial instruments, rostering rules, and pay conditions
  • Experience participating in system implementations or upgrades (UKG/UKG Pro highly beneficial)
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and configuration validation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across project and operational teams
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and judgement

Responsibilities

  • Designing, validating, and optimising scheduling configuration in UKG Pro
  • Ensuring alignment with industrial instruments and operational requirements
  • Supporting the development of efficient, fit-for-purpose scheduling workflows in the future-state system
  • Supporting payroll configuration design and validation
  • Interpreting pay rules, enterprise agreements, and legislation
  • Leading and participating in end-to-end payroll testing to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Providing authoritative SME guidance across both scheduling and payroll domains
  • Ensuring system decisions maintain compliance, operational practicality, and risk mitigation
  • Supporting change readiness, documentation, and transition activities
