About The Position

The Workforce Development Specialist plays a crucial role in connecting individuals with employment services and fostering relationships with employers and community organizations. This position focuses on enhancing program success by monitoring employment satisfaction, developing job placements, and ensuring participants are well-prepared for the workforce. The specialist will also engage in community activities, track placement activities, and assist in program marketing efforts.

Requirements

  • Related Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in hiring, training, and managing staff.
  • Past experience working with the targeted population.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of participants, staff, and community.
  • Basic knowledge of issues affecting people with barriers and disabilities.
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to meet auto insurance requirements.

  • Experience with Labor Market Information and Demand Occupations.
  • Familiarity with workforce development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and conduct community activities related to employment services.
  • Connect with employers and community organizations to market the program.
  • Maintain regular contact with employers to monitor employment satisfaction.
  • Assist participants in developing assigned subsidized placements and complete Worksite Agreements.
  • Document job duties and follow up with employer/participant surveys to ensure program satisfaction.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with local employers, colleges, military, and social service agencies.
  • Enter data on client and employer activity in internal and/or state systems.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and perform general clerical functions.
  • Track and report on placement activities.
  • Work with staff to identify job placement concerns and propose solutions.
  • Engage in program marketing such as specialized recruitment sessions and job fairs.
