About The Position

The Workforce Development Manager at the Carroll Center for the Blind plays a crucial role in shaping the organization's workforce development strategy. This position focuses on building partnerships with employers to create inclusive job opportunities for individuals with vision loss. The manager will lead initiatives that enhance employment prospects, advocate for inclusive hiring practices, and ensure that programs are aligned with the needs of both clients and the job market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation, Human Services, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of proven experience in workforce development, client relationship management, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of workforce development best practices, training strategies, and employment trends.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify client needs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, creativity, and presentation skills—must be comfortable engaging with diverse audiences.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with other industry-related tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance employment opportunities for individuals with vision loss.
  • Create programs focused on skills training, job readiness, career placement, and workplace accommodations.
  • Adapt workforce development programs to meet the evolving needs of both clients and the job market.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a variety of partners, advocating for inclusive hiring practices and the accommodation of employees with vision loss.
  • Lead outreach efforts to educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with visual impairments and help them implement accessible hiring practices.
  • Analyze workforce data to identify trends, skill gaps, and training needs, ensuring programs are aligned with employer requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on employment outcomes and program effectiveness to stakeholders and funders.
  • Continuously assess and refine workforce development strategies to ensure the best possible outcomes for individuals with vision loss.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, employment policies, and technologies that can improve workforce participation for people with vision loss.
  • Raise awareness in the community about the skills, talents, and abilities of individuals with vision loss.
  • Partner with advocacy groups, educational institutions, and government agencies to ensure that policies and programs are inclusive of individuals with disabilities.
  • Represent the Carroll Center at conferences, forums, and other events to promote workforce development initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Workforce Development Specialists and Job Coaches to ensure high performance and exceptional service delivery.
  • Collaborate across departments to integrate workforce development goals with the broader mission and vision of the Carroll Center.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
