Turner Industries Group, LLC is looking for a Workforce Development Manager to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA. The Workforce Development Manager develops positive long-term relationships with business partners, industry representatives, high schools, and craft trade education programs to address workforce needs and assist with talent supply and demand, promote construction as a career path, market industry focused events, and effectively manage and organize craft training efforts through close relationships with employees, site supervision, Associated Builders and Contractors and other industry or workforce related organizations within the region. Exempt role; Reports to the Training Director; Establishes procedures for specific goals in a broad area of work / only results are reviewed / develops procedures within limits of policy and guidelines.

  • Effectively manage and organize workforce development efforts through close relationships with employees, site supervision, Associated Builders and Contractors and other industry or workforce related organizations within the region.
  • Participate in and/or chair various regional committees related to workforce development specific to industrial maintenance and construction.
  • Complete necessary steps to become NCCER Master Trainer and Assessment Coordinator.
  • Develop relationships with local high schools and technical colleges to promote industrial maintenance and construction as a viable career alternative.
  • Attend high school, military and local community job fairs available in the region.
  • Deliver NCCER crew leader training to the regional workforce as necessary.
  • Assist Personnel Manager and Corporate Training Director with projects as needed.
  • Develop/assist in developing training program objectives, course content, instructional materials, i.e., manuals, audio/visual slides, etc.
  • Seek out and obtain training grants available in the region.
  • Become familiar with and effectively use company database, JD Edwards.
  • Select/assist in selecting and supervising program instructors and participants.
  • Prepare and maintain training records of participants' attendance, progress, test evaluations, completion of program, etc.
  • Provide technical instruction to program participants when necessary.
  • Prepare documentation on training program.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Five (5) years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs.
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; sharp business acumen.
  • Ability to build rapport with employees and vendors.
  • Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods.
  • Familiarity with instructional design and adult education best practices.
  • Experience in project management and budgeting.
