About The Position

Make a difference in the life of a nurse! As a nurse educator, you will work closely with Broward College-Health Sciences Administrators to identify and implement short-term educational strategies designed to strengthen the healthcare sector, while addressing the nursing shortage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Active Florida RN Licensure.
  • Five (5) consecutive years of theoretical and clinical experience in specialty nursing, serving in fulltime capacity.
  • Ability to teach specialty topics to healthcare professionals.
  • Strong management skills required.
  • Coordinate and direct training programs, including assist in scheduling, curriculum development and implementation, staffing, and instruction.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
  • Effectively communicates with students.
  • General understanding of healthcare environments and how it impacts academia.
  • Strong managerial and collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to motivate and empower stakeholders.
  • Ability to diagnose, plan and manage available resources required for program success.
  • Ability to influence others of the benefits/importance of an idea or plan of action and to gain their support or commitment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to reach mutual points of agreement among colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches in-person courses including theoretical, clinical, and simulation-based instruction, using effective learning strategies, engaging lectures, and innovative/interactive activities.
  • Executes the programmatic educational plan, ensuring smooth operations of logistics for educational activities.
  • Makes recommendations for adjunct faculty related to staffing and training.
  • Assists in the development of new programs to meet the changing needs of the healthcare community and works with partners to ensure Nurse Specialty training initiatives meet community healthcare needs.
  • Assist with integration of patient care simulation into the curriculum; oversees staff in the development, implementation, and evaluations of patient care simulation activities.
  • Participates in meetings as a representative of the college, as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
