About The Position

The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Workforce Coordinator for the Division of Children and Family Services. This position is responsible for working with the local Department of Labor programs to assist customers with obtaining self-sufficiency. “You have the passion; we have the opportunities – let’s make a difference for Nebraskans!” As the Workforce Coordinator: You will be working with the SNAP Next Step Employment and Training (E&T) program which includes a partnership with Nebraska Department of Labor (DOL). Your day-to-day work would include face-to-face and telephone interaction with customers of varied socio-economic levels gathering financial and demographic information. You will work with the local DOL programs to assist customers with obtaining self-sufficiency. You will be conducting community outreach as well as interacting with customers. Will use computer databases to update, document, and verify customer information, accurately process assigned work tasks, and prepare correspondence. This position covers Statewide and is located in Lexington or Columbus. Travel to alternative work sites throughout the state will be necessary for Outreach.

Requirements

  • Post high school coursework or training in social/behavioral sciences, counseling, business, public administration, education, marketing, or a related field, OR experience in client development and case management including interviewing, research, and direct customer service.
  • Valid driver's license or able to provide independent authorized transportation.
  • Knowledge, skills, or experience relating to database use, telephone-based customer service, and case management.
  • demonstrate proficient data entry computer skills while communicating with customers
  • must be able to multi-task and navigate between various computer systems
  • have good communication skills and are customer focused
  • can learn quickly and successfully via webinars and on-line courses
  • Must have good time management skills and be able to set and manage priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Must have worked with the SNAP programs within the last 3 years.
