About The Position

Vernis & Bowling is seeking a full-time Workers' Compensation Paralegal for their Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in North Carolina Workers' Compensation law, specifically on the defense side. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and proficiency in various software applications relevant to legal work.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in Workers' Compensation law, preferably on the defense side.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
• Strong typing skills, with a minimum of 70 words per minute.
• Paralegal Certificate or equivalent education in Paralegal Studies.
• Experience with legal drafting and legal research.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with document management and billing software programs.
• Experience with Client Profiles/Aderant Total Office and Juris time entry.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with legal research and drafting of documents related to workers' compensation cases.
• Manage case files and ensure all documentation is organized and up to date.
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in cases.
• Prepare and file legal documents with the appropriate courts and agencies.
• Assist in the preparation for hearings and trials, including gathering evidence and organizing exhibits.
