About The Position

WCF Insurance, an "A" rated carrier growing throughout the western states, has an immediate opening for a Workers' Compensation Disability Adjuster to join our Claims team. This role is a hybrid position that will work out of our St. George, Utah or Sandy, Utah offices. This is an exempt position that reports to the Supervisor, Claims. The person in this role investigates, documents, and determines coverage and liability for complex industrial claims and provides prompt and fair benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or AIC designation
  • At least two years of claims adjusting experience.
  • Advanced understanding of the state's Workers' Compensation Act, state Labor Commission rules and regulations, Fair Claims Practices Act, applicable case law, and other relevant standards.
  • Proficiency with WCF's computer systems or equivalent utilities.
  • Knowledge of general liability and other insurance principles.
  • High literacy level in medical terminology and concepts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Organization, time management, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new claims for compensability under the state's Workers' Compensation and Occupational Disease Acts, the Fair Claims Practices Act, the state's Industrial Commission rules and procedures, and other relevant standards.
  • Perform initial and ongoing claims investigations.
  • Communicate claims decisions and key developments to injured workers and policyholders.
  • Provide clear documentation to ensure the proper functioning of claims adjusting processes.
  • Manage disability and medical benefits for eligible injured workers.
  • Maintain appropriate communication with internal and external contacts including employers, injured workers and their families, medical providers, attorneys, investigators, and the Labor Commission.
  • Carefully investigate and monitor each claim to make sure that benefits are fair and timely and to identify any potential fraud or third-party recovery.
  • Make appropriate, timely referrals to the subrogation department and special investigations unit.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and consistency in applying WCF's claims standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of claims reserves, working independently within the reserve limit.
  • An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.

  • The expected salary range for this position is $69,400 –$86,700.
  • Compensation is dependent on the level the candidate is hired into, as well as education, experience, and qualifications.
  • This role may be filled at the Associate, Adjuster, or Senior level, and compensation would be adjusted accordingly.
