We’re seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claim Manager to lead a high-performing claims team supporting multiple diverse industries, including government, gaming, hospitality, and automobile dealerships. This leadership role combines staff management, workflow oversight, quality assurance, and hands-on claim handling of a small caseload to stay current and connected to day-to-day WC adjudication. This is a hybrid position based in Jackson, Mississippi, requiring 2–3 days per week in office to effectively support and engage with the claims staff.

Requirements

  • Mississippi Adjuster’s License (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree OR 15+ years of claims experience
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in Workers’ Compensation
  • Strong, demonstrated expertise in Mississippi WC law and claim handling
  • Experience handling claims from first report to closure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Third Party Administrator (TPA) experience highly preferred
  • Professional designations: AIC, CPCU, or ARM
  • Strong computer proficiency and multi-system navigation
  • Experience supporting multiple client accounts

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of Workers’ Compensation professionals.
  • Assign, review, and supervise all claims to ensure compliance with corporate standards and client-specific instructions.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set developmental goals, and guide staff growth.
  • Monitor audit scores and turnover as key performance indicators.
  • Participate in client file reviews, board meetings, and training sessions.
  • Maintain a small caseload of WC claims to ensure ongoing technical expertise.
  • Ensure proper reserve establishment within defined authority levels.
  • Review and oversee medical, legal, and vendor invoices for appropriateness.
  • Negotiate disputed bills and claim settlements within statutory requirements.
  • Directly handle complex and litigated claims when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and timely diary management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to corporate standards, statutes, and client guidelines.
  • Maintain a strong, required understanding of Mississippi WC laws, rules, statutes, and processes, as well as Alabama jurisdictional requirements.
  • Develop and refine workflow processes to enhance efficiency and balance caseloads.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and legal conferences as needed.
  • Stay current on legislative and industry developments impacting MS & AL WC handling.
