We have a proprietary claims system, designed by claims professionals, who value efficiency and ease of use. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Supervisor, Worker's Compensation Claims Assistants. The person in this position provides clerical and technical support for the claims adjusters and managers, ensuring a smooth process for all claims functions and contributing to the department's success. Position The claims department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Workers Compensation Claims Assistant. This posting is open to internal and external candidates. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Supervisor, Worker's Compensation Claims Assistants. The person in this position provides clerical and technical support for the claims adjusters and managers, ensuring a smooth process for all claims functions and contributing to the department's success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; associate degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a related office environment.
  • Microsoft literacy and computer savvy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Efficient organization and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, claims management software).
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, have acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in claims or insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to claims adjuster.
  • Communicate effectively with claimants, adjusters, and other stakeholders - both written and verbal.
  • Interact with policyholders, medical providers, and other stakeholders to gather information, provide updates, and answer inquiries.
  • Assist in the processing and resolution of claims, including verifying facts and coverage, entering new losses into the claims system, and managing incoming and outgoing claims correspondence.
  • Manage work queues and process documents based on best practice guidelines.
  • Compile and organize medical records for independent medical evaluations and other purposes as requested.
  • Work with a team of claims assistants to manage processes effectively.
  • Provide prompt and courteous telephone coverage, making every effort to assist the caller.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in working with internal and external contacts.
  • Produce quality, accurate work consistently
