About The Position

This position is responsible for the management of workers' compensation claims for assigned self-insured affiliates. The Adjustor manages claims from the time they are reported until their resolution. The role involves working in a team environment alongside technical specialists, a supervisor, a claim manager, and affiliate representatives. Additionally, the Adjustor partners with medical providers and risk management professionals to ensure the integration of claim issues.

Requirements

  • Candidate must come on site as needed and live in the Northern California Sutter Health footprint
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Successful completion of SIP Certificate exam within 36 months of hire
  • Successful completion of an IEA Certificate within 18 months of hire
  • 5 years recent relevant experience
  • Thorough knowledge of California Workers’ Compensation law
  • On the job and classroom training, experience and knowledge surrounding California’s Labor Code, estimating workers’ compensation costs, permanent disability rating and medical terminology
  • Proven oral and written communication skills, reflecting knowledge of grammar in English composition and acceptable business letter format, as well as industry jargon
  • Ability to ensure compliance with Standard Work and Claims Management Standards
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to work independently, maintain a balance of work priorities and complete assignments within established timeframes
  • Analytical skills, the ability to draw valid conclusions, and formulate sound recommendations
  • Organizational and planning skills, and the ability to manage and coordinate the activities related to an assigned caseload and the payment of workers’ compensation claims
  • Ability to work with diverse health and administrative professionals at all organizational levels
  • Computer literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
