The Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster at Argo Group is responsible for adjudicating indemnity and some medical-only workers' compensation claims primarily within the California jurisdiction. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to manage complex claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution while contributing to the overall success of the claims team. The position is temporary and offers the flexibility to work from any US Argo office or remotely from home in California.

  • Adjudicate workers' compensation indemnity claims of higher technical complexity.
  • Solve difficult problems requiring a broader understanding of issues.
  • Report on claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters.
  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing involved parties.
  • Analyze claims forms, policies, and endorsements to determine coverage.
  • Manage claims in litigation and ensure timely task completion.
  • Set claim reserves appropriately.
  • Coordinate expertise resources for case resolution.
  • Prepare reports for file documentation.
  • Negotiate settlements and process mail efficiently.
  • Complete correspondence with various parties (insured, claimant, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a passion for strong claim management.
  • Minimum of four years' experience adjudicating indemnity workers' compensation claims in California.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required.
  • Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Must be licensed and able to quickly obtain a license in required jurisdictions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Strong claim negotiation skills and customer focus.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to articulate the financial value of work at multiple responsibility levels.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and inner strength.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
