About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Attorney to join our dedicated team at Adams, Hill & Hess. This role involves representing injured workers in their claims, managing cases from initial filing to resolution, and advocating for fair compensation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of workers' compensation law and a passion for helping clients navigate their legal challenges.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Oregon.
  • 3 years of experience in workers' compensation law.
  • Strong knowledge of workers' compensation statutes, administrative rules, and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and litigation skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and client-focused with a strong commitment to advocating for injured workers.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to handle complex legal issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with appellate work or handling workers' compensation claims involving third-party liability.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in workers' compensation matters from initial claim filing through closure/resolution, including navigating various administrative processes, hearings, appeals, and settlement negotiations.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on their rights and responsibilities under workers' compensation law.
  • Analyze and prepare legal documents, including requests for hearing, requests for reconsideration, exhibit lists, legal briefs, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and stay current on changes in Oregon workers' compensation statutes, administrative rules, and case law.
  • Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution when appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, medical professionals, insurance companies, attorneys, judges, and other parties involved in a case.
  • Advocate for clients before the Workers' Compensation Board and other related administrative forums.
  • Maintain accurate case files and case management systems.
