About The Position

The Workers’ Compensation Coordinator, Sr., supports the practice’s Workers' Compensation programs, processes, and initiatives through the proactive application of scheduling experience and a working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation concepts.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Medical terminology training required.
  • Three (3) years of scheduling experience and three (3) years of work experience with Florida Workers’ Compensation.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree in business, information systems, clinical or a related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in onboarding of new coordinators and in (re)training/mentoring of all departmental team members.
  • Provides feedback to the manager on human resources functions such as hiring, coaching, and counseling, as needed.
  • Contributes to or leads process improvement initiatives for the department.
  • Schedules appointments related to Workers’ Compensation cases, providing accurate information to expedite patient preparation, arrival location, and time.
  • Uses a proactive approach with all customers by actively listening, showing a caring attitude, and offering alternatives when necessary.
  • Applies understanding of medical terminology and maintains basic understanding of medical needs during the screening process for scheduling an appointment.
  • Collects necessary information for data entry, treatment, and billing purposes.
  • Demonstrates superb telephone etiquette, a team-player attitude, and professional communication skills.
  • Utilizes working knowledge of all registration and scheduling systems, as well as web-based resources.
  • Acts as liaison between physicians, nurse case managers, adjusters, and other third-party management companies in support of comprehensive case management.
  • Works directly with adjusters, nurse case managers, and lawyers to ensure full coverage of all elements of each case.
  • Identifies customer service issues and proactively works toward full resolution.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and uses computer applications, multi-line telephone systems, printers, and copy/fax machines, which may include required data entry.
