As a Workday Financial Systems Manager, you’ll serve as a key leader in the configuration, and optimization of Workday Financials within Accounting Operations. This role ensures the platform effectively supports accounting operations, financial reporting, and scalable financial processes. The role combines hands-on system expertise, reporting development, and integration oversight with leadership of Workday initiatives across Finance, Accounting, and IT, while managing and developing a small team of financial reporting and system analysts along Workday architects. The manager will drive automation, improve data quality, and guide the evolution of the Workday Financials ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience supporting Workday Financials or enterprise ERP financial systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing Workday reports (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, or Prism).
  • Experience leading ERP system enhancements, releases, or implementation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process automation and data integrity.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both finance leaders and technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing integration vendors or outsourced Workday development teams.
  • Workday Pro certifications in Financials, Reporting, or Integrations.
  • Familiarity with Workday Studio, PECI/PICOF, or EIB integrations.
  • Experience supporting accounting operations or finance transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable.
  • For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Workday Financials Leadership Lead ongoing configuration, enhancements, and adoption of Workday Financials.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for key functional areas such as: Financial Accounting Projects / Spend Financial Reporting
  • Identify opportunities to automate financial processes and improve system design.
  • Partner with Finance team members and IT to align Workday capabilities with business needs.
  • Team Leadership Lead and develop a small team, providing technical guidance and prioritization.
  • Mentor team members and support their professional development in financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Workday Initiatives & Optimization Lead Workday-related projects including: New module implementations Biannual Workday releases System optimization and automation initiatives
  • Evaluate enhancement requests and maintain a prioritized Workday roadmap.
  • Financial Reporting & Data Design and maintain financial reporting and analytics solutions using: Workday Advanced, Matrix, and Composite Reports Workday Prism Analytics (as applicable) Workday Worksheets Dashboards and Scorecards
  • Deliver reporting that supports month-end close, audit, compliance, and executive financial reporting.
  • Integrations & Data Flow Maintain light integrations including EIBs, calculated fields, and data loads.
  • Partner with internal and external developers to deliver complex integrations when needed.
  • Ensure integrations are reliable and well documented.
  • Governance & Controls Maintain strong system governance aligned with SOX, audit, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure structured change management, testing, and documentation practices.
