About The Position

Independently provides a range of duties to support The Commuter, LBCC's award-winning student publication, including the monthly print magazine, the LBCommuter website, and The Commuter's social media, advertising, marketing, and publishing operations.

Requirements

• Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC.
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.
• Have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity.
• Demonstrate good teamwork and communication skills.
• Possess basic knowledge of computers and relevant software.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working for a newspaper, magazine, advertising and marketing firm, website or social media operation.

Responsibilities

• Work in a variety of roles at The Commuter, including reporting, writing and editing; photography and graphic arts and design; social media and website editing; marketing, advertising and promotions; and circulation and delivery.
• Attend campus events and produce written accounts and photos of the events.
• Create promotional materials for student clubs or work with advertising clients.
• Produce social media posts and edit content for the website.
• Collaborate with editors, department heads, and other staff members.
• Meet all applicable deadlines for assigned tasks.
