About The Position

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources and Employee Experience, this position directs the development, implementation, and management of Metro State University’s Human Resources department, including employee relations, HR operations, payroll and benefits, talent acquisition, compensation & classification, and performance management. The position directs and supervises the work and performance of HR professional staff and facilitates an inclusive, collaborative, and results-oriented culture with a focus on continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Three years professional HR experience.
  • Bachelor's in HR or related field may substitute for 1 year experience.
  • Master's in HR or related field may substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • Experience with federal and Minnesota employment and personnel laws and rules.
  • Strong analytical skills involving data analysis, data management and use of metrics and analytics to drive decisions.
  • Experience in building trusting and collegial relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, Microsoft Suite, including SharePoint, MS Teams and MS Forms.

Nice To Haves

  • PHR or SPHR certification.
  • Previous supervising or leadership experience.
  • Previous Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, or State of Minnesota Human Resource experience.
  • Experience in labor and employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, classification concepts, human resource information systems (HRIS), talent acquisition, and performance management.
