The Work Order Assistant is a 35 hour split week second shift position. The schedule is Mondays-Thursdays 2-10pm and Saturdays 10am-6pm. Deviations in the schedule are expected to accommodate special events such as commencement activities, home football games and during academic breaks (spring break, summer vacation etc). Part of the Assistant?s responsibilities may involve assisting in the inspection of various facilities. Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, the Work Order Assistant is a customer service position responsible for the daily operation of the Work Order Center, which receives correspondence from the community for maintenance needs. The Work Order Assistant processes work order requests via phone and web from the University community which includes students, faculty and staff. The Assistant dispatches BC union staff to respond to urgent facilities issues. The Work Order Assistant will prioritize and assign work for student staff. The Assistant needs to be able to work both independently and as a member of a team to resolve issues regarding work order processes while providing the utmost customer service. Additionally, this position requires the ability to utilize technology to better the general quality of the department. The successful candidate will have the ability to problem solve creatively and make sound decisions in a fast paced, constantly changing environment. To be successful the Assistant will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which includes having the ability to communicate effectively using phone, radio and web based applications. Top candidates will have proficient and diverse computer skills, excellent accuracy and decision making skills and demonstrated experience in problem solving and conflict resolution. Prior customer service experience is desired, experience using Maximo or similar CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software a plus.
