About The Position

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Work Leader to support day-to-day operations and provide hands-on leadership across the department. This role requires strong technical knowledge, solid leadership capabilities, and the ability to maintain productivity, safety, and workflow—especially in the absence of a Foreman or Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver who leads by example, works well with others, and uses computer systems effectively to manage tasks and support the team. This role plays a key part in supporting fabrication operations, including machining, cutting, forming, and assembly processes using equipment such as mills, lathes, drills, press brakes, and saws. The Work Leader is expected to have a strong understanding of fabrication techniques, blueprints, and material flow to ensure quality and efficiency throughout production. This includes coordinating work across fabrication cells, verifying that materials and components meet specifications, and assisting with troubleshooting issues related to machine performance, part accuracy, and equipment setup. The ideal candidate will help drive continuous improvement within fabrication processes while maintaining high standards for safety, precision, and overall workmanship.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of the department’s operations, tools, and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience in guiding or mentoring team members.
  • Proficiency in using ERP or production tracking systems (e.g., M2M).
  • Ability to operate a laptop and generate/report on open orders.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Commitment to teamwork, productivity, and maintaining a positive work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily tasks and assignments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform all duties at the highest skill level within the department.
  • Act as the leader when the Foreman or Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Provide guidance, motivation, and teamwork support to department staff.
  • Utilize company systems (e.g., M2M / ERP software) to run open order reports, manage work orders, and support scheduling.
  • Ensure all workstations or cells are loaded with tasks and materials in alignment with production goals.
  • Monitor production metrics, address inefficiencies, and assist in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment by enforcing safety standards and best practices.
  • Assist with training, troubleshooting, and maintaining team compliance with company procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with other departments such as Planning, Quality, and Maintenance to maintain workflow and resolve issues.
