This is a forecasted opportunity for upcoming work Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Work Control Planner to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives in a highly regulated, technically demanding environment. Requirements

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
  • Ability to understand work control, maintenance, and/or materials management, and understanding of work control and related policies, practices, and procedures.
  • A working knowledge of identifying the required labor, materials, and equipment is necessary to complete the given work activities successfully.
  • Ability to understand and identify work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to conduct functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development, including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, tracking, retrieval, and review of work packages.
  • Ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.
  • Intermediate computer skills (such as typing, spreadsheets, reports, and use of Microsoft Word and Excel).

  • Active “Q” clearance
  • Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
  • Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
  • Ability to fully understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting work control and planning.
  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports.
  • Working knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.
  • Knowledge of the Laboratory's infrastructure and site planning policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiar with and or having an understanding of facility support equipment, such as HVAC systems, Compressors, Boilers, and Electrical Distribution systems.
  • Knowledgeable in tracking work activities from conception through completion, preferably in construction management and or facility management industries.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and/or reviews work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures, and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.
