About The Position

Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Work Control Planner 4 to support ongoing operations Los Alamos, NM. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment. The Work Control Planner 4 is a senior-level planning professional responsible for developing, reviewing, and closing complex work packages in support of operations, maintenance, and modification activities within assigned facilities or technical areas. This role supports work control execution by producing high-quality, compliant work packages, including labor, material, and time estimates; step-by-step work instructions; procedures; safety documentation; and testing requirements. The Work Control Planner 4 operates with a high degree of autonomy, resolves work restraints, interfaces with multiple disciplines, and ensures work is planned and executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOE and LANL requirements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing work control packages in an industrial, nuclear, or highly regulated environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of facility systems, including boilers, HVAC (including JP systems), and facility/facility support systems.
  • Experience in facility maintenance and/or construction environments.
  • Proven experience with procedure writing and development.
  • Prior experience in Work Control Planner and/or Work Control Manager roles.
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (e.g., Maximo or equivalent).
  • Ability to work 100% on-site (no split schedules; remote work only case-by-case and not long-term).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance and A-Level Access.
  • Ability to operate a government vehicle.
  • Ability to perform field walk-downs, including climbing fixed ladders and working outdoors.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting DOE, LANL, NNSA, or other national laboratory environments.
  • Background in nuclear facilities, nuclear reactor operations, U.S. Navy (nuclear or conventional), or private nuclear industry.
  • Experience with facility system planning, including complex mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Advanced experience with procedure writing software and tools.
  • Familiarity with Maximo Asset Management, Hitachi systems, X-Maximum, or similar platforms.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification.
  • PPA (Policy & Procedure Author) certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior planners or support work control teams in a leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and finalize work packages for operations, maintenance, and modification activities.
  • Prepare detailed, step-by-step work instructions, procedures, safety requirements, and testing documentation.
  • Develop accurate time, labor, and material estimates to support work execution and scheduling.
  • Plan work involving mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiological systems and equipment.
  • Resolve work constraints and planning issues, including coordination with engineering, safety, maintenance, and operations stakeholders.
  • Ensure work packages comply with DOE Orders, LANL policies, safety basis requirements, and facility procedures.
  • Support work execution through package revisions, field walk-downs, and closeout activities.
  • Bring work packages to final closure, ensuring documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and procedure-writing tools to support planning activities.
  • Participate in field walk-downs, including outdoor environments and climbing fixed ladders as required.
